4th R-in-Grenoble working session

on the January 30, 2020

January 30, from 16:00 to 18:00
The fourth working session of the Grenoble R community will be about "Organizing a data challenge in R". Drinks and snacks are served during the second part of the session.

Each month, the Grenoble R-group organizes one working session of 2 hours, on Thursdays, from 16h-18h, at the Imag building.

Everyone is welcome from beginners to advanced R users. Participants just need to bring their laptop. Presentations or tutorials will last 30 to 60 min, on R topics that can be useful to many people, with practical examples. During the second part of the session, specific problems encountered by participants when coding in R will be discussed.

Drinks and snacks will be shared during the second part of the session.

Organizing a data challenge in R

Data challenges are original tools to explore computational methods trough active learning and competition approaches. It can be used both (i) to improve pedagogic practices in education and (ii) to address scientific questions, such as benchmarking of computational methods. First, we will present you examples of R data challenges that we have run on the open-source challenge platform codalab (challenges in master classes, remote challenges during scientific conferences or winter-school-like scientific data challenges). Then, we will give a tutorial to teach you how to easily set up your own data challenge.
