French speaking international conference on teaching statistics

from September 6, 2017 to September 8, 2017

The fifth edition of the conference « Colloque Francophone International sur l’Enseignement de la Statistique » will take place in Grenoble from 6 to 8 September 2017.
Statistics education plays an important role in the activities of the French Society for Statistics (Société Française de Statistiques SFdS), in particular with the activities of a specialised group « teaching statistics ».

The growing role of statistics and data science in all domains and in society make education in these disciplines more and more important. That is education amongst students as well as the permanent training of their stakeholders and the public.

For these reasons, the programm committee has chosen to highlight 5 topics :

  • Didactics, new tools and new methods for teaching statistics,
  • Review of the reform of the teaching of statistics in secondary education,
  • Professional continuing education,
  • Statistics, history, public space,
  • Teaching statistics in the age of data science.

One of the goals of the conference is to make all participants interested in teaching statistics from academia or other sectors discuss topics related to all the dimensions of teaching statistics, incluing technical diemensions (didactics, pedagogy) as well as historical and ethical, always keeping in mind the impact on societies and the future.
