First Summer School “Statistic and Data Science for Young Researchers in French-speaking Africa”

from July 1, 2019 to July 5, 2019

The Grenoble Alpes Data Institute supports the first summer school "Statistic and Data Science for young researchers in French speaking Africa" that will take place in M’bour (Senegal) from July 1 to 5, 2019.

The Young Statisticians Group of the French Society of Statistics (SFdS) and the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) of M'bour have invited French-speaking African PhD students and young doctors to the first Summer School of Statistics and Science Data in M'bour in Senegal from July 1 to 5, 2019.

This week aims to bring together young researchers from French-speaking Africa around a scientific event on Statistics and Data Science. These fields of research are very promising, including the challenges of analyzing, managing and processing large volumes of data. These themes are now unavoidable. So exchanging with young researchers in French-speaking Africa around innovative and recent research is important. In this perspective, 3 courses in statistics and data science are proposed and illustrated by concrete applications in line with the socio-economic challenges of the continent such as health, agriculture and the environment. Lectures by expert researchers in these areas will be presented. The young researchers are also invited to share their research.

The Grenoble Alpes Data Institute supports this summer school which is a place of friendly exchange between young statisticians from French-speaking Africa as well as between African and French researchers.
