Seminar: Credal sum-product networks

on the December 12, 2018

December 12 at 3 pm
Cassio P. de Campos from University of Utrecht (Netherlands) will talk about "Credal sum-product networks". The event will take place on December 12 at 3 pm at INRIA Montbonnot Saint-Martin, room F107.
Sum-product networks are a relatively new and increasingly popular class of (precise) probabilistic graphical models that allow for marginal inference with polynomial effort. As with other probabilistic models, sum-product networks are often learned from data and used to perform classification. Hence, their results are prone to be unreliable and overconfident. In this talk we describe the sum-product networks and elaborate further on a robust extension which is typically useful for sensitivity analysis and risk-aware inferences. We apply our algorithms on realistic classification tasks and discuss on the results and possible future research.
